The road to the new live-action Tokyo Ghoul movie has been bumpy and fans were unsure if the movie would be happening because of different trouble in production. One of the main concerns about the movie came with the news that one of the main stars in the film, Fumika Shimizu, announcing that she would be retiring from acting to join a cult. However, good news was announced today, as the staff behind the film released a new visual confirming a July 29th release date. The new visual is an updated version the original image that was released of Masataka Kubota, in costume as Ken Kaneki, but with the 7.29 Roadshow release date text.

Fans of Tokyo Ghoul rejoiced at the news of a new film, as it has been a couple of years since any anime content has been released. The film has an impressive staff behind it, and will be directed by Kentaro Hagiwara with costume and mask design by Masanori Morikawa. With all of the controversy surrounding the random retirement of on of the lead roles, the staff assured fans by stating, "We want to convey the ghoul and human drama and strong themes of the original work through the film. Those feelings will never change."

Tokyo Ghoul was first released in 2011 in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump, it was then and to this day is serialized as Ghoul:re. The anime and manga have achieved international success, and is set to replace One Piece in Adult Swim's Toonami anime block.
