It has been months since Naruto: Boruto Next Generations debuted, but fans are just now seeing how Team 7 fits into the series. The wait does appear to be worth it though; Konoha’s famous team did have one intense reunion in the anime‘s latest episode.
Boruto released its 21st episode today, and the installment followed Team 7 as the squad reunited one by one. The episode began with a rather tense confrontation between Sasuke Uchiha and his daughter Sarada. The pair had a short stand-off before Naruto Uzumaki came to the rescue, introducing himself to Sasuke as the latter questioned the Hokage over Sarada’s appearance.
For fans, seeing older versions of Sasuke and Naruto mediate with one another is an odd sight. The rivals spent much of Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden feuding, and it was only during the latter’s end that Sasuke came to terms with his friend. The pair are on good terms in Boruto, but they aren’t as buddy-buddy as some might have hoped.
Still, fans shouldn’t be too surprised by Sasuke and his lukewarm welcome; He acts much the same towards his wife.
By the end of Boruto’s latest episode, Sakura Haruno makes her return to the anime. The pink-haired ninja steps into a battle Sasuke and Naruto find themselves struggling through. The pair were ambushed by a mysterious Sharingan-wielder known as Shin, and Sasuke found it difficult to fight whilst protecting his daughter. Sakura makes a surprise appearance right as Shin is about to make an advance, pummeling him into the ground with her super-strength. Sasuke is surprised by his wife’s appearance, but he does little to comment on her arrival.
The reunion of Team 7 is a brief one as Sakura winds up being taken hostage by a revived Shin, but the moment was a rewarding one for fans. Sarada watched in awe as her parents and Hokage showed off just a fraction of their true power. And, as Boruto‘s on-going arc continues, Sarada will only get to witness more of her predecessor’s unmatched skills.
