Jujutsu Kaisen’s creator is already making their return to Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine with a brand new series, and now fans have gotten the first look at what the creator is cooking up next. Jujutsu Kaisen was one of the most popular franchises to come from Shonen Jump of the late 2010s, and has begun to explode in popularity even more thanks to the fact that it’s been brought to life with two seasons of a TV anime (with a third on the way) and a feature film release. But Jujutsu Kaisen’s own manga run surprisingly came to an end at the height of the franchise’s popularity.

Jujutsu Kaisen ended with Shonen Jump magazine last December, and series creator Gege Akutami has been hard at work on their next major series. Teaming up with Cipher Academy series creator Yuji Iwasaki, the duo are returning to the magazine with the next issue of Shonen Jump coming next week. Their new series is titled Mojuro (though its official English language name has yet to be confirmed as of this time), and will be sticking around for a much shorter time than Jujutsu Kaisen ever did. Check out the first look at Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki’s new series below as shared by Shueisha.
What Is Mojuro?

There has been very little revealed as to what to expect from Mojuro‘s mysterious story with this initial announcement, but many other details have been confirmed. Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami will be writing the new series while Cipher Academy creator Yuji Iwasaki will be providing the art. This new series is described as a “short-term” manga, so it won’t be running for half a decade like Jujutsu Kaisen did. It’s going to be telling its own contained story, and then wrap it up without any real fear of potential cancellation if it’s going to last for less than 100 chapters.
The debut chapter of Mojuro will be coming this weekend with the next issue of Shonen Jump, and features 54 pages in total with a color page helping to kick it all off. This is a rather fast return to the magazine for both of these creators as Cipher Academy ended in February 2024, with Jujutsu Kaisen then wrapping up in December that year. Now that both creators are ready with their next major idea already, it’s certainly exciting to think of what they might have planned.
What’s Next for Jujutsu Kaisen?

Jujutsu Kaisen fans have quite a lot to look forward to in the immediate future as well. The creator behind ti all might be moving forward with their next work, but the franchise is going to kick off a whole new wave of the anime next year. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1 is currently scheduled to make its debut sometime in January 2026 as part of the upcoming Winter 2026 anime schedule. A concrete release date has yet to be announced for these new episodes as of this time, but Crunchyroll will be exclusively streaming Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 alongside the new episodes hitting in Japan.
It’s where you can find the first two seasons and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 feature film in the meantime, but there’s going to be a chance to see the new season early, however. GKIDS is bringing a special movie event to theaters on December 5th titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution. Which will not only features a recap of events of the Shibuya Incident arc from the second season but also the first two episodes of the Culling Game arc.
