Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! The original Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami reached its conclusion in September last year before releasing a special epilogue in the final volume, which was released in December 2024. The epilogue introduced fans to Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren but didn’t reveal much about their family. Akutami surprised fans in September this year with a short sequel manga titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, the story takes place 68 years after the Culling Game, following Yuta’s grandchildren, who have grown up to be teenagers now. After the final volume was released, many fans speculated that Yuta married Maki Zenin, and the debut chapter of Modulo made one of the most famous ships in the series canon.

The story of Modulo begins with Yuta’s funeral, who lost his will to live after Maki died. While Yuka was closer to Yuta, Tsurugi was raised by Maki since she shared so many similarities with her. The manga has been releasing weekly chapters since its debut, but there are still no signs of Yuka and Tsurugi’s parents. While the main story didn’t mention anything about the siblings’ parents, the first volume extras of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveal the tragic fate of their father.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Reveals Why Yuta and Maki’s Son Hasn’t Been Introduced Yet

The first volume is expected to be released on January 5th, 2026, and is already available for pre-order on the official website of Amazon Japan. However, a few pieces of information on the volume extras were revealed ahead of time by @Go_Jover on X, a reliable source of information on all things related to Jujutsu Kaisen. The account shared that Yuta and Maki had a son named Iori who went missing after Yuka was born. Whether he is alive or not hasnโt been confirmed, but the additional information in the volume explains why Yuka and Tsurugi never talked about their father.
Additionally, while the volume revealed that the siblings’ mother is named Mifuyu, it doesn’t explain anything about her status. Many fans speculate that the woman in the first chapter who refused to let Yuka use Yuta’s ring is their mother, but there’s no confirmation about that at all. The English release date of the first volume hasnโt been revealed yet, but we can expect an update in the second half of 2026. Expected to include fewer than ten chapters, the upcoming volume will have 212 pages and extra illustrations and bonuses for fans.
The sequel series will have a short serialization, running for about six months in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, releasing no more than three volumes. The manga has officially entered its final stretch as the battles between Yuka and Dabura begin. While Yuka is trying to sacrifice herself to save the Jujutsu world, Tsurugi is doing everything he can to save her, even if it means fighting Maru, one of his closest friends, who stands on the opposite side.
