One Piece fans know the Straw Hat crew is comprised of A-list heroes, but Brook just reminded everyone why he's one of its top members. The pirate saw himself face Big Mom one-on-one in the anime's latest episode, and he took his beatdown like a champ.
This weekend, Toei Animation released One Piece's 820th episode. The update focused on Brook in part as the hero continued his showdown with Big Mom. The Yonko ran into Brook after she went to the Room of Treasure to check on the Poneglyphs, and she became enamored with Brook once she found the thief there.
However, that fascination could not save Brook for long.
One Piece wasn't shy about Brook and his defeat at the hand of Big Mom. The Straw Hat pirate put up a good fight and even managed to land a hit on Prometheus. However, Brook was no match for Big Mom when she got serious. The hero was swatted around by the Yonko with ease, and Big Mom basically hit Brook with a one-punch KO at the end of their skirmish.
By the end of the new episode, Brook found himself at the mercy of Big Mom. The Yonko decided to keep the man as a pet once she ensured he hadn't snatched any of the Poneglyphs, and it will fall onto Brook's scattered comrades to help him escape her grasp.
Eiichiro Oda's One Piece first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. It has been collected into 87 volumes, with a few chapters yet to be included. It has been a critical and commercial success worldwide with many of the volumes breaking printing records in Japan. The manga has even set a Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book by a single author, and is the best selling manga series worldwide with 430 million copies sold worldwide.
One Piece is currently in the middle of the "Whole Cake Island" arc and is now streaming on Crunchyroll and FunimationNOW.
