J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson

During the Google Hangout with cast and crew from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 yesterday, director Marc Webb confirmed that he would like to integrate the world of the Daily Bugle and its prickly editor J. Jonah Jameson into the films — but admitted it’s a tricky proposition.”I like the idea very much of him coming up in one of the next films,” Webb said, but acknowledged that veteran character actor J.K. Simmons — who played Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy — would be difficult to replace.”It was easier to accept the new Spider-Man than somebody who can out do J.K. Simmons in that role,” Webb said bluntly.Simmons currently appears as Jameson (in animated form) on Disney XD’s Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and has also voiced the character throughout the Amazing Spider-Man era on Ultimate Spider-Man.
