At the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference last week, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara talked about the future of his company. While most of the press seems to be enamored with his comments about a tired and weary Batman, Tsujihara actually made some much more powerful and interesting statements about the role that DC Comics will play in the future of Warner Bros.If there was ever any doubt what Warner Bros. strategy going-forward would be, then Tsujihara made it very clear that they are going to be developing their DC Comics properties just like Disney has done with its Marvel Comics properties. Tsujihara emphasized, “The other places where we think we can have growth is DC Comics.”In regards to the 12 to 14 pictures that Warner Bros. will be releasing a year, Tsujihara said, ” I think the basis, foundation of those 12 to 14 pictures are going to be coming from DC Entertainment.”Tsujihara promised, “We have Batman Vs. Superman coming out in 2015, but there are going to be in the coming months a lot of announcements regarding the future movie, television, games and consumer product pieces that are going to be coming from DC.””DC really does touch a lot of parts of our business and is an important part of the strategy in how we are going to grow going forward,” explained Tsujihara.
