Non’s endgame is finally here and Supergirl is the only person who can save humanity from becoming an army of mindless slaves.With most of her closest allies either incapacitated by Myriad or on the run from the US government, it seems like Supergirl will have to stand alone against her evil uncle-in-law and his army of killer alien convicts. With only two episodes left this season, Supergirl still has plenty of questions left to answer. What is Non’s Master Plan?
Astra originally developed Myriad to stop Krypton’s destruction by literally forcing its population to stop mining the planet for resources. While Alura captured her sister before she could implement Myriad, Non has successfully used Myriad to control National City’s entire human population. But even with an entire city under his control, what is Non’s master plan? Will he turn National City into his own personal army or does he plan to expand Myriad to control the entire planet? And are Non’s motives as noble as he claims? Is Non really trying to save Earth from itself or is he just looking for an easy way to conquer the planet?
How Does Myriad Work?
We know now that “Myriad” is some sort of mind control device that uses National City’s communication grid to override the human brain. What’s more, Myriad is capable of controlling an entire crowd of people, such as the entire population of National City. But the “hows” and “what” behind Myriad are still murky. Who designed Myriad? Is it an automated program or a machine being operated in a remote location? How far is Myriad’s reach, and is there anyway to free a person from its control? How does Indigo and her ability to tap into machinery factor into Non’s plan? Why did Non need to raid Maxwell Lord’s lab? Hopefully, Non or one of his lackeys will give a villainous monologue that explains some of the details behind Myriad.
Does Supergirl Have Any Allies Left?
As shown in the closing moments of last episode, Supergirl won’t be able to rely on Jimmy Olsen for support due to the effects of Myriad. Presumably, Winn and Cat Grant will also be impacted by Myriad, leaving Supergirl with very few allies left to help her figure out how to stop Non’s plans. Even if DEO is outside of Myriad’s radius of influence, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to send any agents into National City until they find a way to block Myriad. So who will Supergirl turn to for help? Will she ask Alex and J’onn to abandon their mission of finding Project Cadmus and rescuing Alex’s father? Will she find Maxwell Lord, whose technology was used to create Myriad? Or will she call on her more famous cousin to help stop this threat?
Is Maxima a Friend or Foe?
Former WWE wrestler Eve Torres will make her first appearance on Supergirl as the alien powerhouse Maxima. In the comics, Maxima is the heir to an alien kingdom who originally travelled to Earth to mate with the Man of Steel. When Superman rejected her proposal, Maxima joined the Justice League and eventually died saving Earth from Brainiac. She later appeared in the rebooted “New 52” comics as one of Supergirl’s classmates at an alien academy. While this version of Maxima was still charged with finding a suitable mate to produce an heir, she seemed more interested in Supergirl as a potential partner than any of her male classmates.
Even though Maxima has been more of a superhero than a supervillain in the comics, it appears that she’ll just be another Fort Rozz convict for Supergirl to fight. But will Supergirl convince her to reform, or will she just end up like Red Tornado or Jemm, Son of Saturn as a forgettable villain of the week?
Will Non Make Good on His Threat to Kill Supergirl?
After declaring a temporary truce during Astra’s funeral, Non promised Supergirl he’d kill her the next time they met. With an army of Fort Rozz prisoners and National City under his command, Non seems to have the deck stacked in his favor in his personal battle against Supergirl. But will his plans for Earth take priority over his grudge against his niece? Or will Non use his newly found control over Supergirl’s friends to enact some personal revenge? After all, Supergirl’s sister did murder Non’s wife, so it’s only fitting that he kill someone Kara cares about.
