Kim Ledger had the sad honor of receiving the best supporting actor Oscar for his son, Heath, in 2009. The Academy Award was given to Heath Ledger posthumously for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight, a moment his father can only describe as “bittersweet.”
In a new feature on THR, Kim Ledger revealed he allows the statuette to be shelved in the Western Australian Museum in Perth, where it sits alongside The Joker costume from the movie, plus other Heath Ledger memorabilia. Eventually, though, it will all go to Heath’s daughter with Michelle Williams, Matilda, who is now ten years old.

“Michelle is aware the Oscar remains secured with the museum. At the end of the day, everything is there for Matilda, and when she can take possession of it, it’s all hers,” Kim Ledger said.
