Abraham describes some funny times in the Army to Sasha as they walk into the Alexandria gates, seeing kids running around. Abraham calls it, “Brave new world.” He admits he can’t imagine Maggie having a kid in this world but Sasha is optimistic about it. As Abraham is leaving Sasha tells him he won’t see her tomorrow because she’s starting a new shift and Eugene is taking her shift with Abraham. He gets a little awkward as she leaves and they gave each other peace signs. He wakes up next to Rosita in bed and tells her what Sasha told him. Rosita gets up and tosses Abraham a necklace she made for him out of a brake light. He’s grateful and calls her perfect. She says, “Show me in the shower,” and he will in a minute but he’s laying in bed thinking about Sasha.

Maggie and Glenn work on a small farm in the Safe-Zone. She is pessimistic about crops not growing but Glenn assures her they’ll come. They see Denise and Abraham running into a house and follow.
Jesus sits on a staircase, admiring art, and Carl approaches with a gun. Jesus tells him, “I’m waiting for your mom and dad to get dressed,” just before Rick and Michonne walk out, still not completely dressed. Daryl, Abraham, and Glenn rush up the stairs with guns drawn. Rick wants to talk with Jesus.
The next day, the group sits around with Jesus. They question him about how he got out. Jesus reveals his ways and tells them he checked out their armory and other parts of the community, complimenting them. He reflects on their poor first impressions but assures them their on the same side. He says Rick and Daryl looked like trouble which is why he took the truck. He tells them about all of his communities supplies and tells them their world is about to get a whole lot bigger after offering to take them to where he is from.
Daryl works on the RV and Denise hands him a cookie. He rejects the offer. They talk briefly and he takes the cookie but says it looks like shit. Rick talks to Carl before leaving and tells him that he and Michonne just happened for the first time last night. Carl is cool with it. Rick invites Carl along but Carl says he’ll stay behind and comments on how his messed up face won’t make a great first impression. Rick hands Judith to Carl and joins the group in the RV.
On the road, Abraham asks Glenn why he’s decided to have a baby in other words and insures him that he wears condoms, maybe two, to be safe, also in other words. Rick holds Michonne’s hand as he drives and arrives upon a car crash. Rick points his gun at Jesus and says that if it’s a trick it won’t end well for him. Jesus insists that’s a car from his people and they have to help him. Rick handcuffs Jesus before going inside and tells Maggie if she hears him whistle, shoot him. The group goes inside.
Inside, Rick leads the way with his gun drawn. They clear a few walkers in the dark hallway and find a couple people hiding in a room. Elsewhere in the building, Daryl and Glenn put down a couple of walkers before finding another man hiding. Abraham searches on his own and finds a man who he mistakes for a walker and almost kills him before the group approaches and rushes them out.
On the road, one of the men packs medication into a bag. He was an obstetrician before and he is excited to hear about Maggie’s pregnancy. Jesus sits with his friend Freddy who has his leg wrapped in a bandage. Freddy tells Jesus he saw his wife when he thought Abraham was going to kill him.
The RV stops. It’s stuck in the mud. Jesus tells him not to worry because, “We’re here.” The group gets out and Jesus says, “That’s us, that’s the Hilltop,” as they see a fence nearby and start towards it.
A man yells “Stop right there!” Jesus insists the people he’s with are okay and Rick tells them to bring Gregory outside. Jesus tried to get his people to drop their spears but Jesus insists Rick trusts him, saying he let him keep his weapons as credibility. Cal opens the gates upon Jesus’ request.
The group enters the Hilltop, skeptically. Jesus describes the community and its residence. He points out the big house is called Barrington House. From the house’s top floor, they can see for miles out of the windows. Jesus invites them inside.
The group enters the house, investigating all of its details. “Good gracious ignacious,” says Abraham. Rick questions where everyone lives and Jesus says they plan to build. Gregory emerges and greets them and introduces himself as, “the boss.” He cuts Rick off and tells them to go get cleaned up because its hard to get cleaned up. Rick tells Maggie she needs to talk to him first because he shouldn’t and asks, “When you gonna start doing these things?”
Abraham asks Daryl how long he thinks Rick and Michonne have been “uggin’ bumplies” and asks Daryl if he ever thinks about settling down. Daryl responds, “You think shit settles?” and walks away.
Maggie enters Gregory’s office and he says, “Natalie, right?” and says he was close upon correction. He admires some art work on the wall with her. He sits down and talks with her, initially about saving his doctor, and she starts questioning how this place has lasted. He deflects and begins questioning her about Alexandria. Gregory insists that he has the things that Alexandria needs but is quite insulting in his approach. Maggie cuts him off as he calls her names like, “Honey,” and she insists the communities can help each other. Gregory dismisses the conversation with, “Thank you, Natalie.”
Jesus talks to Rick and Daryl, insuring them that Gregory wants to trade. Rick assures Jesus that they came all this way for food, so they’re going to get it. Jesus requests a few days to deal with Gregory and Michonne is the first to say they can do that. A man barges in and Gregory asks what’s wrong. “They’re back,” he says. They go outside.
Gregory asks Nathan what’s wrong and where their other people are and Nathan tells them they’re dead. “Negan?” Gregory asks to which Nathan responds affirmatively. The three who returned inform Gregory that their offering was short so Negan took a hostage, too, but said he would keep him alive if they delivered a message. Nathan stabs Gregory in the stomach and Rick and the group rush to his aid. Rick beats Nathan and Abraham wrestles with another. He’s getting choked out and Daryl breaks his arm. Rick is tackled with a knife to his throat and the others look on. Rick stabs Nathan in the throat and the community looks on. “What?” Rick asks. A woman punches Rick and Michonne tosses her to the ground. The community is about to fight and Jesus diffuses the situation.
The doctor tends to Gregory and Abraham lays on the ground with a smirk. Daryl asks him if he’s good and Abraham insists, “I’m better than alright,” before getting up and leaving his new necklace on the ground.
Jesus informs the group that Gregory is okay. Rick questions who Negan is. Jesus tells Rick Negan is a leader of a group of people called the Saviors. He came when the walls went up and killed a 16-year-old boy named Rory right in front of them to force them to understand. They give Negan and the Saviors half of everything. They ask what they get in return and Jesus says they don’t get attacked or killed. Daryl asks why they don’t just kill Negan and Jesus admits the Hilltop doesn’t really know how to fight, which leads Rick to wonder how many people Negan has. Jesus says they don’t know but have seen groups as big as 20. Daryl insists this boogeyman “ain’t shit.” Daryl offers to kill Negan and rescue their man in exchange for supplies and a cow. “Confrontation is something we’ve never had trouble with,” Rick says. Jesus takes the idea to Gregory.
Outside, Rick explains that they and their abilities are the trade. Jesus comes outside and tells the group Gregory wants to talk to Maggie. Rick tells Maggie Deanna was right about her before she heads inside.
Maggie finds Gregory in his bed in a dimly lit room. He’s still recovering and his whining about it. They talk about the deal and Maggie insists that they handle people like Negan by killing them. Maggie reiterates the deal but Gregory laughs. Gregory reflects on Maggie’s rejection of his earlier offer but they eventually come to a deal. Maggie brings up Negan’s demands for half of everything and tells Gregory that she wants half of everything he has now or the deal is off. “I have leverage,” she tells him. Gregory concedes and takes the deal, sarcastically asking if she wants anything else.
Rick and the group pack the supplies. Rick questions a man about Negan’s compound. He insists the man come with them to help get Craig back and kill Negan. Jesus wants to come, too. Rick and Michonne talk about the situation outside and agree that they’ll win.
Inside, Maggie gets a sonogram with Glenn. They see the baby together for the first time.
The RV pulls out. Rick, driving, looks at his new co-pilot from the Hilltop. Michonne looks at Glenn and Maggie’s sonogram and passes it to Daryl, who passes it to Abraham.
