One character we have met, though, is newcomer Paul “Jesus” Rovia as played by British actor Tom Payne. The actor quickly soared into fandom after his introduction in last week’s The Next World episode and will continue to rise as he leads Rick’s group to the larger world in Knots Untie. However, as the world expands, we will continue to get closer and closer to Negan’s arrival on television.

While talking to Payne about The Walking Dead‘s season finale, the actor didn’t share the same horrific reactions Ross Marquand, Andrew Lincoln, and Lauren Cohan have, but he did say he’s very much looking forward to it.

“I’m super excited for everyone to meet Jeffrey [Dean Morgan] on the show,” Payne said, though he couldn’t say whether or not he has met the new big bad yet himself.

“That’s going to be a very, very cool moment,” he went on. “It’s like me, I was super excited for everyone to meet Jesus and now that’s happened and that’s very cool and it’s the same with Jeffrey. I think they’ve done a great job with casting and I’m super excited for what’s to come.”

In the event that you don’t know who Negan is, he is the villainous big bad in The Walking Dead world who makes his arrival by smashing a skull with a baseball bat. He did it in issue #100 of the comics and he’ll be doing it before season six of The Walking Dead comes to a close.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET.
