Each of the series comes from a creative team with an impressive pedigree: Welcome to Showside comes from Bravest Warriors creator Ian McGinty; Allen: Son of Hellcock comes from Last Week Tonight writer Will Tracy and Gabe Koplowitz, a writer/director with VH1; and Carver‘s Chris Hunt studied under Paul Pope and worked with Ghostface Killah.

McGinty and Hunt provided the covers for their books, while artist Miguel Corto drew the Allen: Son of Hellcock cover.

You can check the covers out, along with official descriptions of the series from Z2, below. But first…the Welcome to Showside animated short released last week.

WELCOME TO SHOWSIDE

WELCOME TO SHOWSIDE marks the creator-owned debut of BRAVEST WARRIORS artist Ian McGinty — and the title kicks off the new fall periodical line from Z2 Comics. WELCOME TO SHOWSIDE takes readers on the adventures of Kit, a lovable kid with a monstrous secret: his dad is the Great Shadow King and he wants Kit to take over the family business of destroying the world.

Ian puts it this way: “Kit is a fun-loving dude who wishes he didn’t have a care in the world. But as much as he wants to skateboard, eat rad food, and hang with his buds like any kid would, well, his father is the Shadow King, Ruler of the Nexus, and that means sometimes Kit and his friends have to defend the town of Showside from ghosts, demons and monsters.” With best friends Moon, a sorceress-in-training, and Belle, the latest in a long line of Southern demon-hunters, Kit fights a plethora of Nexus demons — and finally stands up to his Dad.

About SHOWSIDE Issue #5

Argh! Fueled by the powers of Teenomicon, Frank the Lesser Demon banishes Kit, Moon and Belle to the worst place he can think of: the Central Offices of the Nexus. There, the kids must team up with one of their very first enemies in order to find a way to escape the Nexus Offices. Meanwhile, Toulouse and Moon’s Great Aunt Esther devise a way to take down Frank and save the brainwashed citizens of Showside, including Belle’s parents! Can the kids battle their way through the hordes of Office Demons determined to make them work 9 to 5? And can Great Aunt Esther and Toulouse combine magic and science without creating a big ol’ Magi-Sciency mess? Guess we’ll find out!

ABOUT CARVER

After an absence of five years, globe trotting and notorious gentleman of fortune Francis Carver returns to Paris in 1923. He has come back to aid Catherine Ayers, the wife of a wealthy Parisian socialite and the only woman he has ever loved. Her daughter has been kidnapped by the leader of a crazed anarchist gang, a man named Stacker Lee. In order to bring the girl home, Francis will have to crawl through the underbelly of the city while confronting the demons of his past, before being faced with a final choice: succumb to the man he has become, or take that mask off and be the hero he always wanted to be.

“CARVER is my homage to CORTO MALTESE,” said Chris Hunt, “I’m bringing a modern edge and sensibility to classic, serialized adventure storytelling, starting with the first storyline CARVER: A PARIS STORY.”

ABOUT CARVER #4

“Carver and Catherine are alive, but not unscathed as they make their escape with a bit of unforeseen help, that ultimately brings them face to face with the Shadowy figure of Stacker Lee.”

ABOUT ALLEN: SON OF HELLCOCK

Allen is cowardly, directionless, and less physically menacing than a daffodil. He’s also the only son of the mightiest hero ever to plunge his sword hilt-deep into the dark heart of evil… the mighty HELLCOCK! Enjoy the ride as Allen is thrust sword-first into a not-so-classic fantasy quest that, frankly, he would rather just sit out. ALLEN: SON OF HELLCOCK is the comic book debut of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver writer Will Tracy, co-writer Gabe Koplowitz and artist Miguel Porto.

“ALLEN: SON OF HELLCOCK has it all: washed-up sorcerers and swordsmen, terrifying horse-donkeys, sensitive ogres, fashionable elves, ornery minotaur landlords, an exceedingly polite retired despot, a black-hearted but oddly lovable villain, and an idealistic young woman who’s the only one with any brains,” said Will Tracy.

“Uh, don’t forget Allen,” said Gabe Koplowitz.

“Did you mention the horrid horse-donkeys already? Oh god… the horse-donkeys…” said Miguel Porto.

ABOUT ALLEN: SON OF HELLCOCK #3

Following Kaarl’s brutal attack on Mungletown, Allen, Madeleine, and Hellcock’s aging band of adventurers set off to seek justice. But once they enter the dreaded Pines of Mystery, things start to fall apart.
