Wolverine (Vol. 8) has dealt with the character’s life in the aftermath of the Krakoa Era. The loss of Krakoa affected Wolverine as badly as it did the rest of the X-Men, and Wolverine ran off into the woods, only hanging with out the X-Men on a part time basis. He’s also been pulled into a battle with the Adamantine, the magical metal of the past that adamantium is based on, with his old enemies controlled by the metal. Wolverine was able to survive the whole thing, with the Adamantine waiting somewhere in the wings, and was soon pulled into some drama involving the possible return of his mother, revealed to be the machinations of Mastermind, the mind-controlling mutant. Wolverine has gone through a lot lately, and Wolverine (Vol. 8) #13 sees him get a little break — and a new job that no one saw coming.

Wolverine has had some amazing adventures over the years. Wolverine was born in the mid 19th century, and has had many jobs during those years. Wolverine has had quite a life over the decades, always trying to better himself and save the innocent. Wolverine has proved himself a great hero, but there have been times when he was on the other side of things and it seems he’s back to that. Wolverine #13 sees the hero become a mob boss, one of the most unique things that Wolverine has ever done. However, the real interesting thing about Wolverine becoming a mob boss is the why of it the whole thing. Wolverine will go to some great lengths to pay his debts and help others, something that is proven the more we dig into Wolverine’s past, especially the events that led to him becoming a Chicago mob boss.
Wolverine Does the Dirtiest Jobs

Wolverine started his life as a spoiled rich kid, something that ended the night his mutant powers manifested. This was during an attack by the family estate’s groundskeeper, Thomas Logan (secretly Wolverine’s bio dad), and Logan and his nursemaid Rose escape. They join a logging camp, where Logan works his way up to becoming a logger. This is the first Wolverine’s many jobs. Over the years, he’s been a soldier, a wild man of the forest, a spy, a criminal alongside Mystique, and a superhero. Wolverine does the jobs that most other people won’t; his powers allow him to survive anything and this has seen him doing the dirtiest jobs out there. Wolverine is the best there is at what he does, and what he does is kill and survive. At some point in the early 1900s, Wolverine found himself in Chicago, where he worked with Andiamo mob family. The don was killed, and Wolverine was able to save his signet ring, which was supposedly enchanted to make their business work more peacefully. Wolverine kept it for years before returning it to the current leader of the family, Donna Angelina Andiamo, allowing her to save the family when it was at their weakest. Wolverine tells her he owes her a favor, and she calls in that favor in Wolverine (Vol. 8) #13.
The Andiamo family and the Flanagan family have been clashing for years, but the return of the signet has seen the Andiamos get the upper hand. This has led to a peace offering from the Flanagans, but Angelina knows that not all of the captains of the family agree with their boss Linus and that her life will be in danger going to the meeting. She asks Wolverine to take her place; she wants to make him a made man, make him the don for the day, survive the gauntlet of the Flanagans who don’t want peace, and sign the peace treaty, all without killing anyone. Wolverine agrees and become Don Logan, boss of the Andiamo family. Wolverine has been a lot of things over the decades, but this is the first time he’s ever become a mob boss.
Wolverine’s Time as a Mob Boss Brings Him New Allies

So far, Wolverine (Vol. 8) has been sort of lackluster, but there are interesting parts to it. Wolverine (Vol. 8) #13 asks readers to ignore a couple of things to make its story work, but it leads Wolverine into a somewhat unique direction. This isn’t the first time Wolverine has been a criminal — when he lost his healing factor, he posed as a criminal for a while — but it’s one of the more fun. It’s cool to see Wolverine dressed as a mob boss, and have to fight without killing a bunch of thugs.
It also gives Wolverine a new ally. Donna Angelina Andiamo promises that now that Wolverine has paid off the favor he promised her, she now owes him. With Age of Revelation coming up, it’s hard to see where Wolverine is going to go once we get back to normal in a few months. It will almost certainly involve the Adamantine, and the Andiamos, who have some kind of magic helping them out as criminals, may play a role in that final battle. This story has holes you can drive a truck through, but it could lead to some interesting places.
