Wonder Woman earned nearly $41 million in its third weekend. That’s the second best third weekend ever for a Warner Bros./Time Warner movie, falling behind only Christopher Nolan’s Academy Award-nominated The Dark Knight.
Wonder Woman also had the fourth-best third weekend for a superhero movie, falling behind The Avengers‘s $55 million, Spider-Man‘s $45 million, and The Dark Knight’s $42 million.
Wonder Woman also had the eleventh-highest grossing third weekend of all time, besting films like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Shrek 2, Alice in Wonderland, and Titanic.
Wonder Woman’s 30 percent week-to-week drop is the third-smallest drop among movies that opened over $100 million, behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (22 percent) and The Jungle Book (29 percent).
Wonder Woman could end up being the highest-grossing film in the DC Extended Universe. It currently pacing 11 percent ahead of Man of Steel and 5 percent ahead of Suicide Squad. By the 24-day mark, Wonder Woman will likely be outpacing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well (the film had earned $311 million by day 24).
Also at the box office this weekend, Cars 3 took first place earning $53 million. Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me didn’t have the late surge that some were hoping for, but did clock in at third place with $27 million, which is about what studio Lionsgate was expecting.
Tom Cruise’s The Mummy is still struggling to create buzz for the Dark Unvierse brand, dropping from second place to fourth place with $13.5 million. Shark thriller 47 Meters Down clinched the fifth-place spot with over $11 million.
Scarlet Johansson’s major comedy debut, Rough Night, slid into the sixth place spot.
