For over half a decade, Arrow has welcomed fans into the fold with four simple words – “My name is Oliver Queen.” But according to series star Stephen Amell, the newest intro needs to be kept under wraps for the time being.

During a panel at this weekend’s Heroes & Villains FanFest New Jersey, Amell was asked if he would be able to tease the opening narration from Arrow‘s upcoming sixth season. But as he explained, the intro gives way too much away.

“Everyone always asks me if I will do the Arrow intro.” Amell revealed. “And I have to tell you, I can’t do it this year for a very specific reason. Because me doing the Arrow intro is probably the biggest spoiler that I can possibly drop about the show. Sorry. I would get in so much trouble.”

It’s safe to assume that this is because the intro will address the aftermath of Arrow‘s season five finale, which saw almost all of the show’s main characters caught in an explosion on Lian Yu.

The fate of many of the show’s characters is currently uncertain – aside from Laurel Lance/Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (Manu Bennett), and Dinah Drake/Black Canary (Juliana Harkavy), who have all been seen in the season six promotional materials. Considering the fact that the aftermath of the finale will be “slowly revealed”, it makes sense that Amell would have to keep it a secret.

Arrow fans won’t have to wait too long to get some answers – and hear the new intro – when the show returns on Thursday, October 12th on The CW.
