Warning! Major spoilers for Batman #32 lie below!

Earlier this year, DC Comics fans were stunned when Batman got down on one knee for his long-time lover. Fans followed Bruce Wayne as the hero proposed to Selina Kyle. Readers were left hanging on Batman's answer, but it looks like the secret it out.

Catwoman said yes.

Over on USA Today, the site was able to exclusively reveal how Batman's proposal went down. The answer came after Batman delved into his darkest secrets with Catwoman, telling his lover that he tried to stab the Riddler and kill the villain before the Joker stopped him. Wayne wanted Selina to know everything before she gave her answer, but the heroine wasn't phased by her boyfriend's dark past.

In fact, Catwoman told Bruce their past sins can't compare to the love they have for one another. Selina then tells Batman to propose again, "but this time you poor boy, don't demand." And, after he asks one more time, Selina tells him yes.

Writer Tom King spoke with USA Today about Selina's answer, saying he felt the the exchange represented true love to him.

"That to me is what true love is," King explained. "It's showing who you truly are to someone. It's letting someone know deep down who you are and that's horribly frightening and it scares Batman as much as anything ever has."

"They're two broken people, and because they're broken, they have the edges that fit together."

The writer went on to discuss what was next for the superhero couple. "In 78 years of this character, he lives in every kind of medium humankind can produce. But we've finally taken you someplace you haven't seen before, so we're going to explore this," King explained.

According to the writer, Batman's next storyline is being dubbed "Rules of Engagement." The series will see all of Gotham - and the DC Universe - react to Batman's unexpected proposal.

"Some people are going to think, 'Oh, my gosh, he's gone insane, we need to fix him.' And others will go, 'He's gone sane. We finally have a Batman we've been looking for,' " King explained.

"Most superheroes, you make them happy and you end conflict — you give Spider-Man a wife and where do you go from there? But Batman's the opposite: You give him happiness and you create conflict, because he's fundamentally a sad character."
