The DC Extended Universe is setting itself up as a force to be reckoned with. Despite mixed reception, the cinematic franchise continues to wow fans with its dark aesthetic and cast of all-star heroes. Characters like Batman and Superman have had their close-ups in the DCEU along with the vagabond Suicide Squad team. In 2017, Wonder Woman will expand the universe as other projects like The Batman and a solo film about Nightwing continue development. And, now, one of the DCEU’s star is trolling fans hard about Green Lantern casting because why not?

Over on Instagram, Henry Cavill has kept active with various posts, but his shares today caught the eyes of fans. A few hours ago, the actor posted a photo of his dog looking off a tall balcony with a serious silhouette. Cavill, who named the pooch Kal after Superman, then wrote the following clever caption: “Kal looking for Hal.”
Of course, the post quickly did rounds in the DC Comics fandom as fans pleaded for Cavill to say something about Hal Jordan‘s casting. The trollish post was only made worse by the fact that Armie Hammer liked the picture. So far, the actor is a fan-favorite for the role, and Hammer has freely teased fans over his possible involvement with the DCEU.
The post alone would have been quickly forgotten if Cavill had let things be. However, the leading man chose to dangle another teaser in front of fans. Not long ago, Cavill posted a picture of himself standing in front of a store front. Behind the facade’s glass, fans can see a life-size statue of Green Lantern behind him. “Other Kal looking for Hal,” Cavill joked, and fans were quick to spam the actor’s Instagram with comments.
Of course, Cavill seems to be doing nothing more than making some funny references for fans. The Green Lantern Corps movie is a ways off and casting may not be announced for awhile. However, fans are all too happy to continue their speculations about who could play the film’s lead.
So far, fans know the superhero flick will star both Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Described as Lethal Weapon in space, the DCEU has a few top contenders fans would love to see in Green Lantern Corps. Hammer has been a favorite since day one for Hal, but John has more offers open on the table. Stars like Common and Trevante Rhodes have all been fan-cast in the coveted role so far.
