“Return of the Mack” starts with a lady being chased in London in 1895. She screams and we see the man chasing her — or who she thinks is chasing her, that is — is Rip Hunter.
The two happen upon a body who’s blood has been drained, and Rip notices that there are two teeth marks on the corpse’s neck — hinting he’s been killed by a vampire.

On the Waverider, Ray is talking with Jax about wanting to separate from Stein. Ray injects Jax with a serum he says will allow Jax and Stein to separate.
Stein, Sara, Amaya, and Zari are having breakfast. Zari talks to the group about going into the future to 2041, so she can save her brother’s life.
Nate comes over the ship’s announcement system, telling them he wants to have a meeting. When the team gathers, Nate begins talking about the anachronism map he’s been researching. He solos in on an incident in 1895, telling the group that there have been reports of vampires in London. They decide to go check it out.
The group — dressed as cops — visits the coroner where the vampire victim’s body is. While there, the medical examiner has a smart watch that begins ringing. Suspecting he’s a member of the Time Bureau, the time questions him and find out he found the watch elsewhere. The team wipes his memory and leaves the scene to check out a graveyard.
While at the graveyard, the time happens upon a grave and they’re shocked to see Rip crawl out of it, asking for the Legends help.
Act II
The team rendezvous on the Waverider with Rip and he’s reconnected with the rest of the team. Ray and Jax wonder away from the group to talk about Jax’s side effects of the serum when Stein follows them and asks why they’re asking acting strange.
Stein’s daughter calls and asks him to sing to his grandchild. Ray agrees to continue helping Jax separate from Stein.
Amaya approaches Zari and the two get into an argument and when they do, both of their totems light up and they realize they’re connected somehow, but they don’t know why.
Rip is explaining to Sara, Nate, and Mick why he needs their help. The Time Bureau hasn’t approved of his anachronism-chasing and he’s crawling back. They agree to take him back on board if he calls off the Time Bureau from chasing them.
To draw out the vampire, they agree to have Nate serve as the bait. Nate’s walking in a courtyard when he’s distracted by a man who looks like Stein. While distracted, another man walks up behind him and knocks him out with a rag soaked chloroform.
Act III
Nate wakes up and finds out he’s strapped to a table and hooked up to a contraption that will drain his blood.
Nate’s able to call back to the Waverider and is able to give a description to Gideon, who then reveals the man who abducted Nate is Sir Henry Stein, a distant ancestor of Stein’s.
The group finds out the elder Stein — and whomever he’s serving — is planning on doing a ritual using Nate’s blood.
Rip, Sara, Mick, Zari, and Amaya leave the Waverider to investigate more. They’re at a party hosted by the elder Stein and a woman he claims can communicate with the dead. The woman distracts Zari, claiming that she wants to speak with a recently departed loved one.
Rip and Sara split off from the group looking for Nate.
Ray and Jax are on the Waverider, working on finding out who dropped the smart watch earlier. Ray admits that they need help from Team Arrow.
Back at the party, the woman begins shaking and when she stops, she talks in a deeper voice — the soul of Zari’s brother has taken over. Amaya and Mick step in to make her stop.
A new scientist has stepped in the room where Nate is being held and reveals the device they’ve been using the drain people of their blood is a two-pronged syringe of sorts, mocking the teeth of a vampire.
Curtis from Team Arrow calls in to Ray and Jax and reveals the identity of the person who dropped the smart watch.
It’s Damien Darhk and the blood takers plan on using the blood and ceremony on him.
Act IV
The Legends begin fighting with everyone at the ceremony, trying to escape. Sara, Rip, Nate, and Mick make their way back to the Waveride.
Rip explains that they need to allow Damien Darhk because it will aid in their stopping of Mallus, the big bad alluded to earlier in the season. An upset Sara explains the need for them to keep Damien dead.
Zari and Amaya are talking. Zari admits that she allowed her brother to die in 2041 and takes off her totem, not wanting it any longer.
Ray and Jax continue working on ways to break up Firestorm when Stein walks in and figures out what they’re working on. He gets upset that they didn’t tell him and walks out.
Stein runs into Rip, who uses a Time Bureau code to put the Waveride on lockdown. He’s going to get off the ship and doing something to Damien Darhk.
The group notices Zari is missing — she’s gone back to speak with Eleanor, the woman who can speak with the dead.
Act V
The woman tells Zari that she can only summon the dead if she has a momento and Zar promptly hands over the totem. The woman instantly knocks Zari out, revealing it was all just a ploy to get the totem.
The Legends on the Waverider take off trying to find a way to get off the ship.
The ceremony is beginning and Eleanor dedicates it to Mallus. As soon as they flip the switch to revive Damien Darhk, Rip steps forward to stop it, a screen opens up and additional Time Bureau agents come in.
Rip demands to speak with Mallus and Eleanor’s body trembles as before and her voice is deeper. The voice states that Rip’s too late and Damien rises from the dead.
Sara orders Jax to fire missiles at their own cargo bay in an attempt to open the ship from lockdown.
Back at the ceremony, Damien Darhk is working on killing all of the Time Bureau agents when momentarily stops time to try and kill Damien. Time goes back to full speed and Damien grabs Rip by the throat and starts choking him out.
The Legends speed in to help Rip. Zari’s able to get her totem back but it’s too late, Damien and Eleanor time hop away.
Act VI
Jax and Stein are eating grapefruit on the Waverider. Jax reveals that he got Ray to restore their psychic connection. He convinces Stein that he should go home to his grandchild, and Stein agrees to help work on the separation.
Amaya walks into Zari’s room and they talk about her amulet. Zari says that when the totem flew back to her, she felt her brother there. Amaya says she thinks the two will become great friends and fight whomever crosses their path.
Sara approaches Rip and asks if he understands that Time Agents are dead because of him. She tells Rip that she can’t trust him and Agent Sharpe shows up to take Rip away to appear in front of a tribunal — they think Mallus is fake.
On their way out, Sharpe confirms that the Legends are free to travel time as they please.
