Visual futurist and conceptual artist Kino Scialabba (The Avengers, Game of Thrones) worked on the first season of Supergirl, creating designs for a pre-destroyed Krypton, the title character's homeworld, and the Fortress of Solitude, Superman's home away from home that's located in the Arctic.

What can you tell us about your Krypton concept art?

Kino Scialabba: DC and the networks wanted a gloomy Krypton during its last years of existence; I wanted it to be beautiful and ominous at the same time. Krypton is dying from over-mining.

What were you asked to do with Superman's Fortress of Solitude, and how did you approach it?

Kino Scialabba: They wanted something that can go across the board throughout the shows. I wanted to make his parents seem larger than life within an enormous place. I was thinking of a nano-ice technology when i was designing this. I wanted to make this beautiful and sad place for him.

Can tell us about your graphic novel, ME551AH?

Kino Scialabba: This is a story takes place in Prahs, an alien world divided by a religious cold war until the arrival of a visitor crash-lands from the stars. So, they Anoint him their Savior. But little do they know, the visitor is an astronaut from Earth with a mysterious mission and just wants to get back home to his wife.
