ABC’s Nashville might have been cancelled, but that doesn’t mean its catchy song “Gasoline and Matches” has gone away.

During an appearance at the Center On the Aisle Celebration, held at Feinstein’s 54 Below in New York Monday, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist and Laura Benanti performed the song onstage together.

It was part of a night of performances — which also included Supergirl‘s Jeremy Jordan — honoring Benanti, an award-winning stage and screen actress who has a long history of working with Supergirl showrunner Greg Berlanti.

You can check the video out below, via the venue’s official Facebook page.

As you can see, there’s even a cute little bit in there where the two “fought” — Benanti played both Benoist’s benevolent mother and her somewhat more morally-questionable Aunt Astra on the CBS series, which will move to The CW in the fall for its second season.

I personally liked the bit where they played at using heat vision on one another.

While both of Benanti’s characters have now died on the series, Supergirl’s mother will likely continue to appear in the form of holographic, interactive computer programs a la the Russell Crowe simulation from Man of Steel.

It’s not yet known when Supergirl will return or what its place on The CW’s lineup will be. Tomorrow at the network’s upfront presentation in New York at least a few additional details should start to make themselves known. Meanwhile, fans and other actors alike continue to speculate about just how much the series will tie in with The CW’s other DC Comics shows like Arrow and The Flash.
