The original Destiny did a good job corralling the community upon its release and presenting a strong co-op experience that had players grinding for weeks to get the best loot imaginable. The challenge, though, came with keeping said community, as a lot of players went off the reservation after the game failed to maintain a consistent amount of new content. Even with the add-ons, it just didn't feel like enough for players.

Fortunately, Activision has recognized that, and has insisted that it will change the course of action for Destiny 2, promising a bunch of new content that players will be happy with, even months after the game's release.

In an interview with GamesIndustry International, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg explained that consistent content will be focal to a sequel like this, and it won't just be coming from Bungie, as other development teams, like High Moon Studios (the developers of previous Transfomers games) and Vicarious Visions (the makers of the just-released Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for PlayStation 4) will be making it as well.

"We got a lot right with Destiny 1, but one of the things we didn't do was keep up with the demand for new content," he explained. "I feel like that, as great as [expansion packs] The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron all are, clearly there was appetite for more. One of the things you'll see post the launch of Destiny 2, is that we have got additional AAA developers from inside the Activision ecosystem working with Bungie on Destiny content, including Vicarious Visions and High Moon. That will allow us to keep an even more robust pipeline of content in the ecosystem."

However, he didn't quite reveal what the roadmap for the game is just yet, whether we would be getting larger expansions or just a regular flow of smaller missions on a more regular basis. Guess we'll find out soon enough, though – and then fans will hopefully be pleased with the results.

Destiny 2 will release on September 8th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and on October 24th for PC.
