Xbox Game Comes to PS5 and Scores Nearly Perfect PlayStation Store Review Score

An Xbox game recently came to PS5, about a year after debuting on Xbox Series X and PC. And PS5 fans are loving it, as evidenced by its nearly perfect PlayStation Store review score. To this end, it is one of the best-scoring PS5 games of the summer, per this metric at least. More specifically, after more than 3,100 user reviews, the Xbox PS5 game has a 4.8 out of 5, a score of 96 on a 100-point scale. This is the result of 93% of user reviews awarding the game a perfect 5/5.

Following its release in the summer of 2025 on Xbox Series X and PC, survival action-adventure game Grounded 2, from developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Xbox Game Studios, is now on PS5. For those not familiar with the former, it is primarily known as an RPG studio, best known for Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and The Outer Worlds. In recent times, Obsidian Entertainment has struggled to keep its place among the industry’s best RPG studios. In fact, it’s certainly no longer in this company. In the middle of this, though, it’s developed a very popular survival series: the aforementioned Grounded.

PlayStation Fans Like This Xbox Series

The first Grounded game came out in 2022, attracting more than 20 million players and earning a solid 83 on Metacritic. Suffice it to say, a sequel was a given. Now, that sequel has arrived. It appears the sequel is not doing as well, as we haven’t heard any updated figures since its launch figures, which revealed three million players. Whatever the case, it’s impressing PlayStation fans. It has a substantially lower number of reviews, but the sequel’s 4.8 noticeably outdoes the first game’s 4.34, which itself is a strong score on the PlayStation Store.

Interestingly, the PS5 version already has about 75% the total number of reviews of the Xbox version, despite no Xbox Game Pass. On Xbox Series X, the game is more accessible due to Xbox Game Pass, which in turn should inflate its player count and attract more user reviews in the process. On the Xbox Store, Grounded 2 notably has a 4/5, which is also quite a bit lower of a score.

As for the game itself, for those unfamiliar with it, it’s a survival action-adventure game that blends together Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and A Bug’s Life. In it, you are shrunk down to the size of an insect and, with other players, must attempt to survive an insect world where you are now the smallest insect.

It’s worth noting the game is currently in access, so when you fork over $29.99 for the game on the PlayStation Store, you are technically buying both an unfinished game and a game that could change substantially in the coming months/years. So far, this has not seemed to have deterred the enjoyment of PS5 users, though there are fears for the game’s future following a recent update.

This is now the second Xbox exclusive game to come to PS5 this month, and the other has a very similar glowing reception on the PlayStation Store.
