We were kind of expecting new Hellboy footage from Injustice 2, since he’s on deck to arrive this November for the fighting game. But, surprise! During tonight’s Chasing the Cup special on The CW, Netherrealm Studios went ahead and revealed the first fighter for the forthcoming Fighter Pack 3 – and he’s a bit on the pint-sized side.

Indeed, The Atom will be making his debut in Injustice 2 this December, bringing his shrunken antics to the game. And we’ve got a first look at the trailer above, with details on his gameplay as well. Let’s just say that he’ll make, ahem, short work of his opponent when he arrives in a couple of months.

A Mini Beatdown

We first get a glimpse of Atom jumping around on, well, atoms, and then growing to full size to begin intimidating his opponent. But this apparently ties in with his fighting style, as he can go from shrunken down to regular size within the blink of an eye, with opponents only able to see a slight blue streak flying across the screen as it lands dangerous blows.

On top of that, you can grow Atom to perform powerful moves, such as a flying uppercut and a flip kick, depending on how well you land your moves. He can also grow to immense size and crush his opponent under his fist. Unfortunately, that’s about it as far as his gameplay goes, as we didn’t even see his super move yet. But we’re willing to bet it’s no small affair.

So What’s Next?

Besides seeing Hellboy’s gameplay trailer in just a couple of weeks (we’re guessing) and getting more Atom gameplay, there’s still two more combatants yet to be revealed in the Fighter Pack 3. We’ve already speculated who could be added to the third pack in the game, but here’s a quick rundown of who we expect.

Constantine/Rorschach – One of the next characters wears a trenchcoat, so it could either be the supernatural detective Constantine, or the mysterious (yet strong) Rorschach from the Watchmen series.

Enchantress – We’ve already seen a number of Suicide Squad members introduced to the game, so why not add one more? We’ve already seen hints that a new female character will join the party, so our bets are on this vixen.

We could be wrong, but these are looking like safe bets. Guess we’ll find out in just a few weeks!

The game is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
