Pokemon Gold and Silver is getting the re-release treatment for the Nintendo 3DS. To celebrate, and launch trailer has dropped and it is giving all of us those GameBoy Colour feels. Put yourself right back into the Johto region with the brand new trailer below:

The re-released Pokemon Gold and Silver games can be purchased both digitally and with a limited edition physical copy on September 22nd, though the actual cartridge seems to only be available for Europe and Japan currently.

"The first Pokémon games to visit the Johto region have returned! Discover the classic adventures of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver today as Virtual Console games for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Originally launched in 1999 in Japan, these games were the first Pokémon games in full color. And now, you can experience them again, or for the first time—just as they appeared nearly 20 years ago."

Both titles have very similar narratives, with minor differences in gameplay variations such as which Pokemon can be caught out in the wild. Back when they first released in '99 (Japan), both games introduced over 100 new Pokemon to the franchise. Whether trainers choose to start their adventures with Cyndaquil, Chikorita, or Totodile; there are plenty of other Pokemon on the way both new and familiar.

For those players looking to get their hands on Celebi for Sun and Moon, the only way to get ahold of the Mythical Pokemon is by purchasing the re-release of Gold and Silver directly from the Nintendo eShop. Once purchased, a new code will be sent out to unlock this psychic/grass type for yourself!

As more and more older Pokemon games are carried into the current generation of gaming, both veterans and newbies to the franchise can have a chance to experience the evolution of this well beloved series on this generation of gaming platforms.

Pokemon Gold and Silver is now available for the Nintendo 3DS.
