A new PlayStation State of Play rumor is beginning to make the rounds with some big claims about the next Sony presentation. To begin, the rumor claims that the next PlayStation State of Play will happen on September 24, which is this Wednesday. If this is the case, then Sony is going to announce it either today or tomorrow, which means PS4 and PS5 users will get answers about the validity of this rumor within 48 hours.

In addition to providing the date of the supposed State of Play, the new rumor gives information about what will be shown. To this end, it is claimed that after years of silence, Marvel’s Wolverine is going to resurface with a second trailer to end the show, accompanied by a 2026 release window. This isn’t that unbelievable, given recent reports about the game. In fact, the latest report from a very reliable source about the long-awaited PS5 game claims a new trailer has been completed and is ready to be shown.
Resident Evil, God of War, and More
The rumor also claims Resident Evil: Requiem will get a new trailer, complete with a “special surprise at the end.” Considering the Capcom game is only a few months out, this also would not be surprising. As for the surprise, it is almost certainly alluding to the persistent rumors that Leon is both in the game and playable.
Other tidbits shared by the rumor include word that a new Valor Mortis trailer will be revealed, as well as a new Saros trailer. Lastly, it is claimed that the long-rumored new God of War game will be revealed. Whether it is the follow-up to God of War Ragnarok or the metroidvania spin-off that has also been subject to rumors, this new rumor does not say. It does reveal the name of the game, God of War: Dawn of Olympus, and that it will be released in 2026. All of this will be revealed in the trailer, alongside a deep dive into the game.

This is where the new rumor ends. While this all sounds believable, it is important to note that the source is an anonymous 4chan user. This doesn’t mean it should be written off completely, as some of the biggest leaks in gaming history have come from 4chan, but so has a lot of hogwash. In other words, while the rumor should not be tossed aside completely, it should be taken with a grain of salt for sure.
All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over on the ComicBook Forum.
