When put in the face of an upcoming Avengers film, the Marvel fandom turns into a raving speculation machine. Fans have been questioning if Hela might slip into Avengers: Infinity War after her Thor debut, and it the idea isn’t totally out of the question. Just ask one of Thor: Ragnarok‘s producers.

ComicBook’s Brandon Davis had the chance to visit the Thor set, and Brad Winderbaum spoke to press about Hela there. The producer wasn’t forthcoming with all of Hela’s nitty-gritty details, but he did have the following to say about the villain’s return.

“Obviously we always think about the movies as standalones, even if they do set up a movie down the road or pay off something from a previous film. What we hope, if we do our jobs right, is that Hela is one of the best villains we’ve had – maybe the best, hopefully,” Winderbaum started.

“Cate has been delivering an incredible performance. She’s really scary and really charming. She’s very easy to watch, very fun to be around. But very murderous and horrible at the same time. You’re right that those are things that Thanos values. But when and how she plays into the future of the universe is uncertain now.”

The lengthy answer seems to hedge around answering the direct question, so fans are thinking Hela isn’t done with the MCU. Rumors have suggested Blanchett is meant to film in Atlanta this week where Avengers 4 is underway, but there has been no site of the actress down south as of yet.

Still, fans are not ready to give up their hopes for Hela’s comeback. The character is said to be the goddess of death, and Hela is not afraid to wield her power. Marvel fans should perk up at her title as the comics do feature a character known as Death. In the Marvel Universe, Death itself is personified most often by a robed women, and Thanos has a huge crush on the lady. The Mad Titan chooses to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet as a way to appease Death, and well – Marvel Studios didn’t call Avengers: Infinity War for nothing.
