Having helmed an episode of The CW's The Flash and made a cameo appearance in the original Daredevil movie, perhaps it's no surprise that Kevin Smith is interestedin dipping his toe into Marvel's Daredevil-centric Defenders universe on Netflix.

Smith, of course, was a key part of revitalizing Daredevil with hit critically-acclaimed Marvel Comics debut. That run, with artist Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti, would kick off the Marvel Knights imprint overseen by Quesada and Palmiotti and ultimately be considered a big part of Marvel's post-bankruptcy recovery. The collected edition, "Guardian Devil," continues to be one of the best-selling Daredevil stories in Marvel's catalog.

"I feel very at home in that Flash world, so much so that I'd love to do the others. I even told [Marvel chief creative officer] Joe Quesada - we worked on Daredevil together back in the day, I wrote it, he drew it - I said, 'Dude, I want to direct Daredevil, man. That'd be wild to be able to do it in real-life - let's co-direct it, that'd be cool, just like we did the book. We could co-direct an episode and then, like, take the passion from the page to the screen,'" Smith told IGN. "I'm going to try and make that Daredevil thing happen. Every time I talk to Quesada or [Executive Vice President of Marvel Television] Jeph Loeb, I'm like, 'Hey! When are you going back down to the cameras?'"

There's no clear indication that Marvel is listening here, although given the fan goodwill toward Smith it would be somewhat surprising if they weren't. Besides his comics work and his appearance in Daredevil, Smith worked with Quesada, who had his own cameo in Smith's 2001 Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Smith recently announced another foray into episodic television in the form of a Mallrats series which will take the place of the previously-announced and often-delayed Mallrats 2 feature film.
