With Elizabeth Olsen bringing Scarlet Witch to the big screen in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, fans of the heroine were stoked to see Wanda flaunt her powerful mutation (or, perhaps, miracle) to the Avengers. Much of the hero’s iconic styling made its way into her on-screen appearances, but fans were somewhat disgruntled to see that Scarlet was missing her headband from the comics.

But, now, Visual Development Supervisor Andy Park is giving fans a behind-the-scenes peek into what the character might’ve looked like with the accessory.

Taking to Twitter, Andy posted some concept art he created for Captain America: Civil War which shows Elizabeth Olsen dressed in her combat gear. One photo shows the character sans headband while the other features Scarlet donning the traditional item. The pictures overall looks awesome; There are few other words to describe the hero’s powerful stance. Rocking her red jacket and knee-high boots, Scarlet Witch’s eyes are literally glowing with energy in these concept photos.
Fans, however, know that Marvel ultimately decided to forego the heroine’s headband in Civil War for one reason or another. While the inclusion of the item doesn’t have any canonical effect on Scarlet’s power or history, fans would be happy to see the headband make an appearance for old times’ sake.
Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1964, Scarlet Witch first appeared in the X-Men comics and has undergone dozens of iterations. Originally created as the daughter of the usually overlooked hero Whizzer, Scarlet Witch was retconned to be the daughter of Magneto and twin of Quicksilver later in her history. Now, the hero’s parentage has been changed yet again in the comics to keep Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver away from the X-Men as their film rights belong to Fox. The character often ranks as one of the greatest comic book characters ever, and despite a few controversial story arcs, it is widely understood that Scarlet Witch’s magical, warping powers are likely the strongest of all the Avengers crew.
Given Scarlet Witch’s power, perhaps it would be smart for Marvel to give the girl her headband back. After all, it’d be in their best interest to keep her happy.
