Tom Holland's Peter Parker was one of the brightest spots of Captain America: Civil War. While not having as much screen time as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, Spider-Man managed to steal the show with his barrage of quips and web swinging action beats. Moving forward into the future, Spider-Man is sure to be a key component in the Avengers' films as well as what's sure to be a series of his own. Rather than being an older high schooler, or in college, this new Peter Parker is the youngest live action version we've seen to date. While seemingly the most powerful, Peter is still extremely unexperienced having only been the wall crawler for six months before being recruited by Tony Stark. What's next for our friendly neighborhood Spidey on the big screen? Read more to find out!

In 2017, Marvel Studios plans to release a solo Peter Parker film titled, "Spider-Man: Homecoming". While the story details have yet to be fully revealed, we know that Aunt May, Marisa Tomei, and Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr, will have important roles to play. With Peter firmly in high school, supporting cast members have been cast in the forms of Zendaya and Tony Revolori to name a few. While their specific roles are still a mystery, their age leads to a certainty that these two will be fellow students to Peter in his New York City high school.

The director of the film, Jon Watts, was known for two films previously including Cop Car and Clown. Now the latter is interesting because it focuses on a man who is transforming into a hideous clown demon after putting on a cursed costume. While the villain of Homecoming hasn't been revealed yet, the fact that they have a director who's familiar with bringing terrifying monsters to the screen could point to someone like the Green Goblin for sure. The prevalent rumor has been that the Vulture will be the first villain that Spidey has to bring down, with Michael Keaton originally being in discussions to join the cast. With his Birdman role previously, all signs point to this but we still aren't sure and he dropped out of the cast talks.

In terms of other Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances, nothing has been confirmed. Even the giant culmination of the MCU, Infinity War, isn't assured as the Russo Brothers have been tight lipped about the webslinger's presence in those two epic movies. It's entirely possible that we saw Spidey make cameos in upcoming movies like Black Panther, and especially Dr. Strange considering parts of it take place in New York City. What would be great is if we were to somehow see Spider-Man make an appearance in the Marvel Netflix series to help out Daredevil with Wilson Fisk or fight Frank Castle, but this seems highly unlikely considering the separation established between Netflix and the Marvel Studios' films.

Wherever Spider-Man appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he's sure to make a splashy entrance.
