Peter Mayhew is driving Star Wars fans crazy with a new tease, looking both at the past and to the future. The actor, who has portrayed the roll of Chewbacca in the Star Wars franchise since the original first film, has started posting pages from his original script of that first movie. That’s cool enough for fans, with the cover page that says both the code name “Journal of the Whills” and has a sticker of the original title with “the” in it, “The Star Wars” or the fourth draft cover page that still says “The Adventures of Luke Starkiller.”
Starting today I’ll post a few pages from my original @StarWars script each day leading up to a big announcement. pic.twitter.com/ReXI4hyQo1

But Mayhew is also teasing that the script pages are “leading up to a big announcement.”

So what’s he teasing? Well, it could be something as simple as him returning for Episode VIII, which just began principal photography and definitely has a role for Chewbacca. The actor has fought knee problems that required a second actor for the role in The Force Awakens, so it would be nice to see him confirm a return despite that.
On the outside chance, maybe there’s news about Chewie’s role in the upcoming Han Solo “Star Wars Story” movie, or something more direct like some kind of script book coming.
Regardless of the big announcement, it’s cool for fans to get to see some of these original pages.
