Looper Director Has Seen (And Loves) Pacific Rim

Rian Johnson, one of Hollywood's fastest-rising stars and the director of last year's sci-fi cult hit Looper, has nothing but (somewhat icky) praise for Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro's robots-versus-monsters movie. Apparently Johnson has seen a rough cut of the film and tweeted out a (spoiler free) response earlier today, saying, "Go into Pacific Rim prepared to be transmogrified into a 12-year-old. And then to pee your pants with joy. I love it so much." That's probably the hope for the movie; the overall concept is so self-evidently a throwback to a sort of movie rarely made anymore as a massive blockbuster film that it's in capturing that feeling of youthful exuberance and the tone of those films that the promise of Pacific Rim lies. It sounds like they nailed it, at least as far as Johnson is concerned.
