Jason Flemyng, the actor who played Azazel in X-Men: First Class, won't be returning to the franchise for Days of Future Past, he told an Irish newspaper this week. "I don't think I will be back," Flemyng said in an interview. "Initially I was gutted, but then, I remembered I had to get up at two in the morning, I had to be painted red and be slightly out of focus and posed a lot, and that was sort of it. Now I don't have to do that." Azazel, a wildly unpopular character in the comics, was always an odd choice for X-Men: First Class. A character without much history, he didn't fit with the motif of the film, which ostensibly told stories featuring the very earliest X-Men. With a massive cast to wrangle in the sequel, it's likely no surprise to Flemyng or anyone else that he isn't returning.
