The Afterlife With Archie TV/film project is still on track, according to Archie Comics CEO and Publisher Jon Goldwater's Reddit AMA.

Asked about the possibility of bringing the best-selling horror comic to the screen, Goldwater said, "The answer is YES! Absolutely! This is something that will be happening at some point in the near future - nothing to announce just yet, but rest assured it will happen."

And this isn't the first time we've heard of it, of course; before Afterlife With Archie was even on the stands, there were rumblings, not least of all because Afterlife writer and current Archie Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has a Hollywood background.

More recently, when Archie, FOX and Arrow showrunner Greg Berlanti announced a deal to bring a live-action drama titled Riverdale to television, the word was that there would be Afterlife With Archie specials, a la The Simpsons' annual "Treehouse of Horror" episodes.

The form it will take, long-term, then, isn't clear...but a good guess might be a show on FOX or a FOX-affiliated network, complementing Riverdale. It's difficult to imagine that anything else would allow for so much crossover, although anything is theoretically possible if it's contractually worked out before announcements are made.
