Arrow: A Different Look For Felicity Smoak

 have debuted a new look at college-aged Felicity Smoak -- apparently undergoing a Goth phase via the magic of hair and makeup on actress Emily Bett Rickards.

Next week's episode, titled "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," will finally delve into the character's past; while we've had a few small hints, her life story prior to meeting Oliver Queen has been largely left up to fan imaginations.

What do we know? Well, we know her ex-boyfriend and mother both show up in Starling City in the present day, and that Nolan Funk will be the one to play Cooper Seldon, her Big Bang Theory-inspired (apparently) former beau. He'll bring with him a massive computer virus that will fuel a cyber attack on the city Felicity doesn't feel she can beat.

Is it just us, though, or is the whole black-and-purple motif a bit of a wink and a nod to her comic book counterpart, the former Mrs. Firestorm's Dad? Check out her first appearance below (this is a look that she sported fairly often, from what we can tell online):
