Arrow Episode "Uprising" Filming This Week

Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim revealed last night via Twitter that the upcoming, twelfth episode of Arrow's third season will be titled "Uprising."

The episode will be written by Beth Schwartz, who has co-written a number of the show's most popular episodes, along with relative newcomer Brian Ford Sullivan, whose only screen credit to date (per IMDb, anyway) was the fan-favorite Season Three episode "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak."

"Uprising" started production yesterday under director Jesse Warn, who directed last year's "The Man Under the Hood" and "Things You Can't Outrun," an episode of The Flash earlier this year. Before taking on "Uprising," he'll direct "The Brave and the Bold," the Arrow episode of the The Flash/Arrow crossover in just over two weeks.

Warn, like so many actors on Arrow, comes from Starz's Spartacus.

As for the title? Well, it's hard to avoid the fact that "Uprising" has a general feeling of an insurgent army not unlike the one Ra's al Ghul brought against Gotham in Batman Begins, particularly when Ra's is the season -long big bad for Arrow.

That's all speculation, though; in the comics, Oliver has fairly radical personal politics and has been known to run for office. It could be that. Or it could be that Oliver and company seek to stir discontent among Ra's' own people in Nanda Parbat. Further, geopolitical intrigue kind of comes with working with A.R.G.U.S. and the Suicide Squad, and given her involvement with the Arrow Season 2.5 comics, Sara's murder may play into that in some way.
