The trilogy of Assassin's Creed Chronicles launches today, offering up three unique 2.5D games, each with their own new assassin. The games take place in China, India, and launching today as a single game or part of the trilogy, Russia.

The games were developed with Ubisoft Montreal and Climax Studios, and meant to further expand the Assassin's universe by giving players some peeks into other timeframes in the war between Assassins and Templars.

Russia, launching today revisits the assassin Nikolai Orelov, who was first introduced in comic book pages by Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl. Like Arbaaz Mir in India, their assassin comes to life for the first time in the video game universe through these projects. Ubisoft has been trying to establish that their in-game, comics, novels, and even the new feature film all take place in one cohesive universe, and projects like this go a long way to such a goal.

Russia takes place in 1918 and features what Orelov thinks is his final mission for the Order. As their other stories tend to, this one crosses over with history, seeing Orelov cross paths with Anastasia, the legendary sole-surviving princess of the Bolshevik revolution.

Russia is available digitally for $9.99 for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, or as part of the Trilogy Pack for $29.99 on all three platforms. The trilogy is also coming to PS Vita on April 5, 2016.
