For Marvel Comics, making fun of their chief rivals DC Comics is easier than stealing candy from a baby.
It's no surprise, then, that the publisher is taking a swipe at DC for their infamous half page Twix ads, which ran in all of their June 2015 comics. And who better to deliver the delicious punchline than Deadpool, with an intrusive in-story advertisement of his own?
In an exclusive reveal with ComicBook.com, Marvel has announced the "Candy Variant" to November's Deadpool #1, by Dave Johnson. As you can see on the cover, Deadpool and the Rhino's brawl is rudely interrupted by an advertisement for protein bars, complete with an obscure celebrity as its spokesman.
Subtle, Marvel. Subtle.
You can view the full cover in the gallery below, and then consider the irony behind the advertisement floating above this very text...all in the spirit of Deadpool, right?
Deadpool #1, by Gerry Duggan and Mike Hawthorne, hits comic shops and digital storefronts this November.0comments
