Hell has come to earth!

Starz has released (via Entertainment Weekly) the very first image and character description of the main villain from season two of Ash Vs. Evil Dead.

The character is named Baal, and he's played by Joel Tobeck ("Sons of Anarchy," "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"). His character description reads: "When Baal is released from the underworld, our team will face an enemy more powerful then then any that have come before. One with bigger plans than just destroying Ash as well as a secret link to Ruby (Lucy Lawless)."

In season 2 of Ash vs Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell's titular sort-of hero will face a diabolical demon more powerful than any enemy he has encountered before, according to an announcement Thursday by Starz. The blighter's name? Baal! The character is played by Joel Tobeck (Sons of Anarchy, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King), hails from the underworld, and has a "secret link" to Lucy Lawless' Ruby.

The second season of the STARZ Original series Ash vs Evil Dead will be 10 half-hour episodes. The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, "Burn Notice") in the role of Ash Williams; Lucy Lawless ("Salem," "Spartacus") as Ruby, who now possesses the powerful Necronomicon; Ray Santiago ("Touch," Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash's loyal sidekick dealing with the trauma he suffered in the cabin; and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, who, grief-stricken after the death of her parents, plots revenge against The Evil Dead.

Lee Majors (Do You Believe) will play the role of Brock Williams, Ash's father, and Ted Raimi ("Xena: Warrior Princess," Spider-Man) will play the role of Ash's childhood best friend, Chet Kaminski

Sam Raimi serves as executive producer with Rob Tapert (Evil Dead, "Spartacus," Xena: Warrior Princess"), Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, "Burn Notice") and Ivan Raimi (Drag Me To Hell, Spider-Man 3) along with Craig DiGregorio ("Workaholics," "Chuck") who serves as executive producer/showrunner. Aaron Lam ("Spartacus") and Moira Grant ("Spartacus") serve as producers.

Ash vs Evil Dead returns this October.
