Halloween Returns director Marcus Dunstan, who is penning the script with his longtime writing partner Patrick Melton (writers behind a number of the SAW films), was recently interviewed and shared some interesting new details on the latest Halloween reboot and who he'd like to see star in it. Spoiler: Britta!

"I really like this actress Gillian Jacobs," Dunstan told Darnell "The Myers Fan" Weeks (via Halloween Daily News). "She's known for all this comedy on Community, and yet I didn't know her from Community first. I knew her from a movie called Gardens of the Night, which is one of the most wrenching dramas, and she's excellent. I thought, 'I wonder if this great performer would do that again, would like to go there, and I think so.'"

When the time comes when Dimension Films and Trancas International Films are ready to release the first teaser image of notorious killer Michael Myers for Halloween Returns Dunstan wants it to be as impactful was when Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

"Embracing social media, I think one of the first key images has got to be that carefully set-up Instagram photo of the mask in profile with that border-edge lighting, so you know right away what the intent is," said Dunstan. "If it looks anything at all disparaging to anybody, then we've failed. Our goal is really to have that Han-and-Chewie moment."

Dunstan also shared some other tidbits. He believes he can make a great Halloween film because his main character is "subtlety and suspense," and suspense doesn't require a large budget to pull off. He'd like the "film shot on film." They're not that far into production as the "coolest thing" they've done so far is a "couple motion tests of potential Michaels."

The new standalone film that will reintroduce Michael Myers to moviegoers. Early plot details reveal that the film will open with Myers on death row, awaiting execution for his crimes, when an attempt at jailhouse justice apparently goes wrong and allows him to escape.
