Lady Gaga's outfits have always bordered on the bizarre and extreme. So when she showed up to sing the National Anthem during last night's Super Bowl in a patriotically inspired Gucci sparkly red pant suit and an...interesting blonde hair bump, the Internet reacted with its usual snark and aplomb. One of the funnier responses came from Kotaku's Patricia Hernandez, who compared Gaga to Blaziken, a popular fire-type Pokemon with blonde extensions as fierce as the performer's hair.

The Lady Gaga/pop culture references didn't stop with Pokemon. Others compared the singer to the Thundercats, Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies, and even the White Witch from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Many also compared Gaga to one of the Hunger Games' outlandishly dressed Capitol residents. Personally, I thought she looked a little like Inuyasha, a popular anime character, without the cat ears.

While her outfit was a bit extreme, Gaga showed why she's one of the most popular musicians in America. Her performance of the National Anthem received near-universal acclaim, with some even comparing the performance to Whitney Houston's iconic performance before the 1991 Super Bowl. Gaga's performance also went down as the most watched National Anthem in Super Bowl history, so millions won't forget her incredible performance...or her Pokemon-mimicking looks anytime soon.
