Iron Man 3D

It's always a controversial topic when films are post-converted into 3D. And let's be honest, the reason post-converted 3D is controversial is because most post-converted 3D films offer little more visually than the 2D version. Post-converted 3D has become synonymous with just being a money grab by studios and movie theaters to charge higher ticket prices. While The Avengers was one of my favorite movies of all time, I can't profess to having seen much added value in the 3D effects. With that in mind, I wasn't expecting much from seeing the new Iron Man 3 trailer in 3D, since it is also post-converted 3D. However, I'm happy to report that the Iron Man 3 trailer actually looked incredible on the big screen in 3D. Probably, with a lot of the earlier films that have given post-converted 3D a bad rap, the director went in not really initially knowing or expecting their film to be converted to 3D. Maybe, they found out half-way through filming or even after filming was wrapped that their movie would be converted to 3D. With Marvel Studios having already started the trend of converting their films to 3D, we're assuming director Shane Black knew going in that it was virtually certain that Iron Man 3 would be post-converted to 3D. Maybe, knowing from the get-go gave Shane Black the chance to think about ways to film scenes where it did give the audiences a little something extra in the 3D version. Whatever the reason, the 3D in the Iron Man 3 trailer pops. Various object leap off the screen, putting you right in the center of the action. If the 3D is as good throughout the film as it was in the trailer, then Iron Man 3 is going to one of those rare post-converted 3D movies, where it's actually worth it to pay more for a 3D ticket.
