It seems that everyone likes to do parody videos of their favorite movies and TV shows, and the IRS is no exception. Back in 2010, the IRS produced a six-minute parody video featuring Star Trek characters for the opening of a training and leadership conference. The video is just coming to light now, because CBS News was just able to obtain the video under a Freedom of Information Act request. The controversy comes into play over how much the IRS spent on the Star Trek parody video. According to CBS, the cost for this Star Trek video and another video featuring Gilligan's Island characters ran about $60,000. Rep. Charles Boustany had originally requested the video, but the IRS had refused to release it at the time.
