Friday will see the start of Kevin Smith's Film School Fridays podcast, entering its second season at the L.A. Film School website. The filmmaker, whose Smodcast empire has grown in recent years to be one of the largest and most successful podcasting endeavors online, teams up with film school to mediate a raunchy, unfiltered dialogue with five of the school's students about all things film. During each episode, he guides listeners and the film students through his unusual journey to becoming one of the most widely known indie filmmakers of his generation. Smith talks about all aspects of independent film including production, post-production, and the state of wider media--something he's got substantial interest in, given the fact that he's been experimenting with alternative means of production and distribution in his own work in recent years. In addition, he answers questions from students, giving them a unique platform to air their views and share their insights.
