Marvel Comics has announced Secret Wars: Battle World as their latest tie-in series for to the massive crossover event.

Battleworld, which will clearly fall under Marvel’s “Battleworld” series branding, will focus on the several skirmishes that the main Secret Wars series can’t contain. Each installment in the four-issue mini series will divide its attention onto two separate fights, much like Marvel’s Avengers Vs. X-Men tie-in book “AvX: Vs” did.

The first issue will feature a fight between a Dr. Strange-Possessed Punisher and the Fantastic Four team of Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Hulk, and Ghost Rider, as well as a massive skirmish between every MODOK on Battleworld. Josh Williamson and Ed Brisson will handle writing duties, while Mike Henderson and Scott Hepburn will illustrate.

“The weirder and more fun, the better” series editor Jon Moisan told Marvel.com in the publisher’s announcement. “You want to see the 1602 version of the Punisher fight the 2099 version of Iron Man? Muskets versus the 1990s version of the future! We can even have the same characters from different worlds fight.”
