Comic book fans may know Siobhan Smythe as the Silver Banshee, a deadly Superman and Supergirl villain with ties to Hell itself.
Well, more accurately, that's Siobhan McDougal, but when they reinvented her as Siohban Smythe in the post-Flashpoint DC Universe, she wasn't such a villain after all, so it's pretty clear they're mixing and matching some elements.
Anyway, fans of CBS's Supergirl will first meet Siobhan on the show's February 22 episode, when it returns after a week off for the Grammy Awards.
Here, she'll be a new assistant hired on by Cat Grant, presumably as part of her ongoing antagonism of Kara. Still photos for the episode, titled "Truth, Justice and the American Way," were released online and give fans their first look at Italia Ricci as Smythe -- including a black-and-white top that feels a little evocative of Silver Banshee's iconic look to me.
Also pictured in one photograph is Dr. Alphonse Luzano, a scientist from the comics best known for troubling Supergirl and designing the nanotech that created the DC antihero Resurrection Man. What role he will play in the episode, which already featuers Smythe and the Master Jailer, is anybody's guess.
You can check them out below, along with the official description for the episode.
Supergirl does battle with the deadly Master Jailer (Jeff Branson), who is hunting and executing escaped Fort Rozz prisoners. Also, Cat hires a second assistant, Siobhan Smythe (Italia Ricci), who immediately tries to one-up Kara, and Kara and James disagree over the DEO's methods.
