In June, Universal hired Frank Darabont to direct, but Deadline has learned that "creative differences" have forced Darabont to walk away from the project. The split is said to be "amicable." Darabont was the former showrunner of AMC's The Walking Dead and the director of Shawshank Redemption. Deadline also reports that a new director could be chosen as early as next week. Perhaps, the next director could be Gavin O'Connor ("Warrior") or Andy Muschietti ("Mama"). Both of them were considered for the position before Darabont landed it.

It's not all bad news for The Huntsman. The Wrap is reporting that Emily Blunt ("Edge of Tomorrow") is in negotiations to play the main baddie.

The sequel sends the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) on a quest to find the magic mirror (which has been stolen), forcing him to face not only his past but the evil Snow Queen who's set on avenging her sister Ravenna's death. Charlize Theron will return as the villainous Ravenna and Blunt is making a deal to play her sister, the evil Snow Queen. - The Wrap

The Huntsman will land in theaters April 22, 2016.
