In the first clip, Gidget (Jenny Slate), a white Pomeranian, gives an inspirational speech, hoping it will encourage a group of animals to help her find Max. In the following clip, the group of animals head off to a secret route to the sewers, where they believe Max is located.

As for the "Meet Duke" featurette, Eric Stonestreet describes his character. "Duke is a big Newfoundland dog," he says. "He's trying to figure out where he fits in the dynamic of the family. He needs to find a happy place for himself. He tries to dominate Max, at first." He adds, "They go on a adventures in the streets of New York City trying to get back home, and along the way they get themselves into all kinds of crazy antics. Duke and Max didn't know they would become best buddies. You never know where friends are going to come from."

For their fifth fully-animated feature-film collaboration, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures present The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day.

Comedy superstars Louis C.K. (Trumbo), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) and Kevin Hart (Central Intelligence) make their animated feature-film debuts in The Secret Life of Pets, which co-stars Jenny Slate (Obvious Child), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Lake Bell (Million Dollar Arm), Dana Carvey (Wayne's World), Hannibal Buress (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder), and Albert Brooks (Defending Your Life).

Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy produce the film directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2), co-directed by Yarrow Cheney and written by Cinco Paul, Ken Daurio, and Brian Lynch.
