The Shannara Chronicles First Look Trailer Released Online

MTV's The Shannara Chronicles first look video, revealed today at Comic-Con International: San Diego, has been released online.

The series shows the first footage from MTV's adaptation of Terry Brook's high fantasy saga, with commentary from Brooks, Executive Producer Jon Favreau, and other cast and crew members.

The Shannara Chronciles is set in the far future, where the world has become a fantasy setting following the return of the Elves and other magical races and monsters. Fans of Lord of the Rings should keep an eye on this one. It even has John Rhys-Davies, Gimli the dwarf in Lord of the Rings, but in this series he plays king of the elves.

The series stars Ivana Baquero as Eretria, Austin Butler as Wil Ohmsford, and Poppy Drayton as Amberle Elessedil (each seen above), three teens on an epic journey, and also features Arrow's Manu Bennett.

The Shannara Chronicles premieres on MTV in January.
