The readers don't yet know the identity of the woman who will take up Thor's hammer, but it seems as though Odin does -- or at least knows about the magical book that reveals her to Asgard -- and he's not happy about it.

That's what we get out of a new, four-page preview of Thor: God of Thunder #25, released ahead of next week's release of the series' final issue.

Branding her an "all-new Thor" in story even if that isn't the title of her relaunched book (Thor #1 hits the stands on October 1), the brief preview is bookended by Asgard's response to the new character wielding Mjolnir, and in the middle features a double-page splash that features the first in-story depiction of the new character (above).

Of course, much of the early speculation around the new star of Thor was that she would have a tie to Angela, Odin's long-lost daughter who recently reappeared in the Marvel Universe...but that idea was more or less put to rest when Marvel announced an Angela: Asgard's Assassin ongoing, suggesting it was unlikely she'd be changing her costume and identity.

So soon after Original Sin, it seems difficult to imagine that Odin could still be harboring a secret big enough to generate a new hammer-wielding hero...so more likely than not, it seems a review of old Thor issues (particulalry Aaron's mythology-heavy run) might be the way to get a leg-up on other readers and get a sense for who this new stranger might be.

More to come soon, surely; her relationship with Thor himself, who will still appear in the series even though he's been judged no longer worthy to wield his hammer, may be telling...!

Then again, we're just wondering what AR content is going to be offered with that page when it goes live next week.
