The "Robots in Disguise" will reveal themselves in a live show premiering in China in 2017. Transformers Live will be hosted in a custom-built theater with seating for 4,500 spectators.
The event is the first to be developed by DMG Live, the new live entertainment wing of DMG Entertainment, following a deal struck with Hasbro to acquire the rights to produce a Transformers themed live experience. DMG Live then partnered with Michael Cohl's S2BN Entertainment to develop the concept.
The home for Transformers Live is expected to be located near Beijing, but DMG Live is considering other "tier 1" cities in China, likely meaning Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
"Transformers Live will be a cross between an action-adventure spectacle, a theme park attraction and a theatrical show. Fans will experience intense action, beautiful visual moments, an emotionally engaging story, lots of humor and rousing music," said Cohl during a press conference (via Variety). "The [Transformers Live] show will offer a fusion of proprietary technologies including robotics and advanced projection capabilities along with amazing aerial and acrobatic sequences."
"The Transformers Live show will appeal to the wide-eyed child in all of us who love big robots, insane action and incredible special effects," said Dan Mintz, CEO of DMG Entertainment.
